The interface is styled a little differently, but I was able to set all the options i have in my linux gui. So, i started from scratch in the windows GUI. I first tried importing the preset plist file that i'd saved out of the linux version, but the windows gui couldn't parse it properly, or wasn't happy with it anyway: it seemed to be treating one of the boolean values as if it was a variable name (ie trying to do something like true = "foo"): i couldn't work out what was causing this in my plist file: side by siding it with one saved out of windows, it looked fine. (i'm not sure what the situation on Mac is). In windows, the GUI version is just a wrapper for the CLI, unlike Linux where they are two totally seperate things. It will just place the new converted file in the same folder as the current one. It also does a nice clean header and tracks progress so you can estimate how long it might have to go. So opened up notepad and got to work writing some code to query the file system for all the WMV in a specific folder and any sub folders and then queue them up to pass into HandbrakeCLI. After playing around with Handbrake a bit I knew it was the tool for the job, however it will not recursively add folders to its encoding queue and with several hundred videos nested a few layers deep I wasn’t about to add all of them by hand. I recently downloaded a large amount of training video from the good old interweb, but they were all in the awful WMV format.
